"I love having a foreign teacher, they are much more than just a teacher to me..."

I was born in America, I moved to China when I was 11 years old. Days and weeks would come and go, but one class would keep me going and looking forward to the next week. That would be the English class on Tuesday morning.

This English class would be different from all others. That was because we’d have a foreign teacher! So what’s it really like to have one of these special teachers? It’s spectacular, wonderful, outrageous, fresh, exciting. It makes me feel like I’m talking to an old friend. It makes me feel like my old self again. I can finally relax for one class. I can stop holding in for one class.

Of course, it helps the other students too. I think it’s great that a foreign teacher can come and teach them about other countries’ cultures, traditions, holidays…… It makes us feel like we are actually on a tour at that place, when some aren’t qualified to go to these places. My friends say that it is fresh seeing a foreign face walking around in the hallways, it makes them feel special to know someone out of China.

The Chinese teachers that teach English are a lot of help, they can translate some sentences and words. But sometimes the things they teach you are a long way from what a foreign teacher can give you. And it doesn’t often makes the students speak in English that much. They think that since the teacher an understand Chinese, what’s the point of speaking English? But when a foreign teacher comes, it kind of forces the students to speak English, but in a good way. And soon the students will be learning how to communicate.

I love having a foreign teacher, they are much more than just a teacher to me, more like a best friend. They help you with your English, in a fun and exciting way, helping throughout the times of needs.
