Festive fun for IES Global at the Christmas Pantomime!
During the Christmas season she goes by the name of Cinderella around these parts, but for the rest of the year she is known as Ellen Lickman, our very lovely (and talented) Teach and Travel China Intern!
Teacher by day and actress by night, Ellen has been working flat out over the past few months in rehearsals to star as a lead role in the Beijing Playhouse Christmas Pantomime; Cinderella. Not to miss a chance at showing off that we know a famous person, but also in a bid to show our support for one of our interns, the IES Global workforce excitedly booked (to Ellen’s horror) front row seats to watch the show last weekend.
As an international company, made up of staff from all over the world, we always enjoy an opportunity to celebrate a holiday in one of our cultures and the pantomime was perfect for our staff Christmas party!
For the British staff amongst us, the pantomime brings back nostalgic childhood memories but for the rest of our staff…well it took some simple explaining! After we’d established that we the audience, clap Cinderella, boo the evil stepmother and try not to faint in shock at the men dressed up as the ugly step sisters it didn’t take long for everyone to join in the panto banter! In fact I think we were the biggest contributors when screaming, “he’s behind you!”
Simon Shi dived around hysterically as one ‘ugly step sister’ took a shine to PR Manager Przemek Drapikowski, who apparently doesn’t even need to speak to work his public relations magic!
IES Global would like to congratulate Ellen, for her fantastic performance as Cinderella and for providing us with a great Christmas staff party!
