Singing Superstars
A teacher and the resident driver accompanied me into the nearest of the larger villages which was about a 25 minute drive from the farm. It didn’t take long to get my temporary resident’s permit and was a very straightforward process then we were on our way back to the orphanage.
When I arrived back I was told there would be a singing competition later in the morning, where each class would sing a song or two and there were prizes to be won for the best performance!
I was invited along and we all gathered in the playroom were it was set up with a judges panel and a stage area, which was all very X-Factor-ish! I was really excited to see the kids perform their songs and after being told how much practice they had put in, I was sure it was going to be heaps of fun.
The kids were all competing for the first prize- a trip to Mc Donald’s and there were other prizes of candy and a little money that they could spend in the tuck shop on site. The atmosphere was fantastic with the children all excitedly waiting for their turn to try and impress the judges! The tiger class was really looking the part, with their faces painted to reflect their class name and along with the help from their teachers they were a huge hit.
I was asked if I could take pictures of the show and I had a great time! It was a really nice activity for the kids and everyone got involved in the fun. I have only been here a few days and it’s clear to see what a happy and enjoyable environment these kids are being brought up in!
